This special category from MVR showcases an extraordinary archive of classic music video collections and live concert programs that have been meticulously digitally remastered for DVD presentation. Every title in this series originates from the original LaserDisc release, many of which were never issued on DVD or Blu-ray in any form. Until now, these performances remained locked within the legacy LaserDisc format. Through MVR’s restoration initiative, an exclusive library of OVER 160 rare titles are now available for collectors and enthusiasts who want to experience these productions again in a modern, accessible format.

Each release in the MVR Remastered series carefully preserves the original visual presentation. The authentic 4:3 aspect ratio used in the original LaserDisc masters is maintained to ensure the image appears exactly as it was intended during its original production. The digital audio tracks sourced from the LaserDisc editions are professionally converted to Dolby Digital 2.0 for DVD playback. LaserDisc source material begins at approximately 425 lines of horizontal resolution, and each program undergoes MVR’s dedicated remastering process to further optimize clarity, stability, and overall viewing quality.

Many of the titles included in this series were originally available exclusively on LaserDisc, with only a small number ever appearing on VHS. Every DVD and Blu-ray also features custom-designed artwork created specifically for the MVR release. These designs pay tribute to the visual style and spirit of the original LaserDisc packaging while presenting the material in a distinctive format unique to the MVR catalog.

Within the world of high-fidelity audio, there has long been discussion among audiophiles regarding the effects of compression on sound reproduction. Some purists note that when audio is processed through compression systems—particularly when converted into various surround formats—the reduction of dynamic range can sometimes introduce subtle distortion or clipping. This occurs when the difference between the quietest and loudest elements of the recording is reduced, which can soften detail and diminish the original sonic character of the performance.

The LaserDisc format, however, offered a unique advantage thanks to its large 12-inch physical size.
