Description

Released exclusively on the long since discontinued and deleted formats of  VHS and LaserDisc. This particular concert has NEVER been available n DVD until NOW!

This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted LaserDisc from OVER TWENTY EIGHT years ago.

Background information: This rare concert was nearly exclusively released on VHS in the US, Australia, and in the UK. The only LaserDisc formatted release of this rare concert was in he US. It took over eight months to get this mastered to LaserDisc with it eventual release in 1994 even though the concert is was recorded live on 21 April 1993.

Some audiophiles and sound purists argue that unless the remastering process includes completely “lossless” compression of audio that no matter how it may be converted/processed, it still is compressed audio thus producing some say a more audibly muddled sound. This is due to the lessening of the dynamic range between the loudest and quietest parts of the audio signal thus producing some distortion and a clipping audio effect. The DVD offered here is sourced from the LaserDisc that was re-issued with a digitally remastered soundtrack from back in 1993. Because of the large 12 inch size of the LaserDisc format it can easily support the amount of physical space required to successfully playback large uncompressed sound and in this case even digitally remastered in uncompressed form. This Remastered DVD  features the original completely uncompressed digitally remastered audio recording allowing the original true recorded mix to come alive as it was originally intended to be heard in optimum sound quality. This original mix featured with completely uncompressed audio is exclusively preserved here and available in it’s original intended state of production for the very first time on DVD.

Another original offer from your team at MVR!

Description: A shorter version of this concert was also released on CD. It went triple platinum and spawned the hit single “Because the Night” (which is also featured on this DVD), a cover of the song written by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen. Between the recording and release of the album, vocalist Natalie Merchant left the band to pursue a solo career… Many songs were recorded during the performance that were not included on the album and CD release. The following songs were not included in the CD release which is only 60 minutes long and ARE featured exclusively on this LaserDisc to DVD remaster that is nearly 15 minutes longer then the album release as it includes THREE ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES. They include: A performance with David Byrne (Talking Heads) as a guest singer for the song “Let the Mystery Be” (which was released as a B-side to “Few and Far Between”) as well as Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and “Dallas”.

DVD Menu divides content as “Side 1” and “Side 2” to mimic the content style of the original LaserDisc
