Description

Released exclusively on the long since discontinued and deleted formats of  VHS and LaserDisc in 1998. This Music video collection was released in only two countries on VHS in UK/Europe and US and on LaserDisc only in the USA. This particular collection has NEVER been released on DVD until NOW!

This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted LaserDisc from OVER TWENTY FOUR years ago.

Background information: This music video collection was released in both VHS and LaserDisc formats. The VHS format for the UK and Europe only has 8 tracks, due to Island owning the other tracks in these territories.

In October 2009 this music video collection was released in Australia on DVD as part of a CD/DVD Deluxe package with the title “Time Capsule Songs for a Future generation Greatest Hits”. The original recording while being converted to surround sound was also compressed.

Some audiophiles and sound purists argue that unless the remastering process includes completely “lossless” compression of audio that no matter how it may be converted/processed to surround sound or better, it still is compressed audio thus producing some say a more audibly muddled sound. This is due to the lessening of the dynamic range between the loudest and quietest parts of the audio signal thus producing some distortion and a clipping audio effect. The DVD offered here is from the original LaserDisc released back in 1998. Because of the large 12 inch size of the LaserDisc format it can easily support the amount of physical space required to successfully playback large uncompressed sound. This Remastered DVD features the original completely uncompressed audio recordings allowing the original true recorded mix of each single to come alive as it was originally intended to be heard in optimum sound quality. This original mix featured with completely uncompressed audio is exclusively preserved here and available in it’s original intended state of production for the very first time on DVD.

Description: This compilation presents twelve of their single releases and fan-favorite album tracks in chronological order, with the addition of the then new song “Debbie” recorded exclusively for this collection. “Debbie” is a tribute to Debbie Harry of Blondie.  The album cover features the five founding band members standing in front of the Unisphere. Singer Cindy Wilson, who had been absent for several years, made her return to recording with the group on this album, and shared songwriting credits on “Debbie” as noted in the book The B-52’s Universe, the band intended this to be a larger box set consisting of singles, demos, outtakes, and new tracks, but Warner made the band condense the tracklist to a single disc. Whatever we add MVR felt that was an injustice to the band only remaster this original music video compilation but to add bonus videos all the other music videos that are missing from this collection. Plus, not only fill in the gaps by bringing it up to date but will include the last known video from 2008 in our “EXCLUSIVE BONUS MUSIC VIDEOS and Live Performances (Previously Unreleased)” section following the original collection of this one-of-a-kind DELUXE EDITION DVD. Also included is a multi page menu with chapters selections for all of the bonus music videos and performances.
