Description
Released exclusively on the long since discontinued and deleted formats of VHS and LaserDisc in 1990, the following has NEVER been released on DVD until NOW!
This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted LaserDisc from OVER THIRTY years ago.
Background: This music video compilation dedicated to the singles of the legendary “Violator” LP for Depeche Mode was first released on VHS in UK, US, all of Europe, along Japan and Argentina on the 26th of December 1990. The ONLY LaserDisc of this film from Anton Corbijn was exclusively released in Japan, Europe and USA. The NTSC LaserDisc release from the USA in 1990 is where this REMASTERED DVD comes from. Even now the LaserDisc of this concert is only available USED and it’s offered for sale for as much as $100.00 on websites as verified at the time of this description.
Description: This is the third music video compilation by Depeche Mode, featuring more work from director by Anton Corbijn. Six videos, one for each of the four singles from the Violator album plus two music videos that have NEVER BEEN RELEASED ON DVD EVER “Halo” and “Clean” that are EXCLUSIVE to this release. As with its predecessor, the “Strange” VHS, Corbijn shot all six in Super-8, but here all are fully in color. The tallest woman in the “Halo” video is a young Jenna Elfman. The Drive-In featured in the introduction to the compilation is the “Motor Vu Drive-In”, located in Erda, Utah, west of Salt Lake City, near the town of Tooele, this part of the video being shot the day after the band’s concert in Salt Lake City in July, 1990. All the songs are from the Violator album and were filmed in 1989 / 1990. This film contains long form versions of the videos, not found on later video releases of both VHS and DVD. It’s important to note that Director Corbijn envisioned this collection of music videos as one long visual statement. Thus there are vignettes between all six of the music videos that cinematically and conceptually bridge them all together as one entity or one conceptual idea. These vignettes that are included in this collection appear nowhere else on any other DVD are are exclusive to this release.

“Did you ever see Strange, a black and white mode?
Well, this is nothing like it.
This is a film on Depeche Mode, on life, on love, on lust, and getting closer to all four.
The settings are Spain, Portugal, UK, Switzerland, the USA, and very colourful they are too. All the songs are from the Violator album and were filmed in 1989/1990.”
