Description
Originally presented on HBO as Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton Together and subsequently retitled for home video as Kenny & Dolly: Real Love, this rare concert special was released only on the long-since discontinued formats of VHS and LaserDisc. It was issued on LaserDisc in only two documented countries: the United States and Japan. This particular television special has NEVER received a documented official DVD or Blu-ray release until NOW!
This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high-quality 1985 U.S. NTSC STEREO DIGITAL-SOUND EXTENDED-PLAY LaserDisc and transferred to Region-Free DVD. The original LaserDisc was released 41 years ago and preserves a concert filmed at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, United States, on April 13, 1985. The programme then premiered on HBO in the United States with and an air date of July 14, 1985. It remains the highest-quality documented-video source for this vintage Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton television production.
Background Information:
The HBO premiere arrived one day after the historic Live Aid broadcast of July 13, 1985. For home video, the programme was retitled Kenny & Dolly: Real Love. The documented official home-video history began in 1985 with U.S. NTSC VHS and LaserDisc editions, as well as a Japanese NTSC LaserDisc edition. A U.S. VHS reissue followed in 1987, and a Japanese LaserDisc reissue followed in 1990. Six original official video release entries are presently documented: two separately listed 1985 U.S. LaserDisc editions; a 1985 U.S. VHS edition; a 1985 Japanese LaserDisc edition; a 1987 U.S. VHS reissue; and a 1990 Japanese LaserDisc reissue. Only the United States and Japan are presently documented as having received LaserDisc editions. No official DVD or Blu-ray edition of this 1985 concert has ever been released.

Description: Filmed before a live audience at Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Kenny & Dolly: Real Love captures Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton at the height of their celebrated musical partnership. Originally created for an HBO Special, the programme combines concert performances from their 1985 Real Love tour with rehearsal and behind-the-scenes material. Rogers and Parton perform together and separately, bringing their unmistakable chemistry, humour and easy onstage rapport to a set built around their biggest individual hits and duet favourites.
Highlights include “Real Love,” “Islands in the Stream,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” “A Little More Love,” “Anyone Who Isn’t Me Tonight,” “9 to 5,” “Baby I’m Burnin’,” “Crazy,” “Sweet Music Man” and “The Stranger.” A lively record of one of country music’s most popular partnerships, Kenny & Dolly: Real Love preserves a major 1985 HBO concert special that has never previously been officially available on DVD or Blu-ray.
