Description
Released exclusively on the long since discontinued and deleted formats of VHS and LaserDisc. This particular release has NEVER been available on DVD until NOW!
This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted LaserDisc from OVER THIRTY THREE years ago.
Background information: Originally “The Search of Excellence” was released on LaserDisc as early as 1989. The VHS formatted version of this release had a much more broader scope and that it was released in not only the UK and the US but also throughout Europe. However the VHS was released later that same year and in some cases in some countries released years later. Various versions of this release appear on VHS some Europeman versions are shorter than others but the LaserDisc is the final and complete version of this release. This classic exploration of an INXS through live performances, interviews, music videos and archival/backstage footage was released on LaserDisc in UK, Japan and USA.
Some audiophiles and sound purists argue that unless the remastering process includes completely “lossless” compression of audio that no matter how it may be converted/processed, it still is compressed audio thus producing some say a more audibly muddled sound. This is due to the lessening of the dynamic range between the loudest and quietest parts of the audio signal thus producing some distortion and a clipping audio effect. The DVD offered here is sourced from the LaserDisc that was re-issued with a digitally remastered soundtrack from back in 1989. Because of the large 12 inch size of the LaserDisc format it can easily support the amount of physical space required to successfully playback large uncompressed sound and in this case even digitally remastered in uncompressed form. This Remastered DVD features the original completely uncompressed digitally remastered audio recording allowing the original true recorded mix to come alive as it was originally intended to be heard in optimum sound quality. This original mix featured with completely uncompressed audio is exclusively preserved here and available in it’s original intended state of production for the very first time on DVD.

Description: This release is a great overall look at the band. Mainly because it shows not only entire live performances from 1989 and revised music videos that are now with video montages seen here for the first time. This feature also offers an assortment of various interviews throughout the years. Some earlier live performances (per 1989) are seen only as clips going back as early as 1983 performing “Don’t Change”, the riot that broke out in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1985 and footage at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall in 1988. In addition to archival TV appearances. There’s loads of backstage footage while on tour and also rehearsal footage as well. All of these various random segments as previously mentioned are dispersed via vignettes in between performances and throughout the entire duration of the program. Another way to explain it is to say it’s a documentary complete with a host and narration with full length live songs included with in-depth interviews and random live footage as well as behind the scenes moments from the band on tour and during the shooting of music videos as well..
A Majority of the full length live performances wee recorded at The Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California USA on the 29th of March 1988
DVD Menu divides content as “Side 1” and “Side 2” to mimic the content style of the original LaserDisc
