Description: They chose some great songs to be in this feature (‘Right and Wrong’, ‘Soul Kiss’, ‘Home Town’) and some losers (‘Big World’, ‘Man In the Street’). The ending balance is on the positive side, as the experience of seeing this man is great. “Big World” took place at a crucial point in his career. It was a release that stretched and flexed his musical abilities, yet did not ‘sound’ as commercially appealing as the more successful release that preceded this one. The end result was one of the most exciting and satisfying things that JJ ever did.
This actual live recording session was shot and recorded over three nights in New York City in April 1986. The end result would become “Big World” LP. All song featured below were on the Big World LP. Four of the six songs featured here are “alternate takes” that didn’t make the LP however Two of the tracks here (what the industry calls “master takes”) are “Right and Wrong” and “Jet Set” and are the actual performance heard on the album release. This extremely rare concert captures the essence of the Joe Jackson experience for what it was. Again nearly impossible to find in the older formats (VHS and Laserdsc) and released here, remastered to DVD for the very first time.
