Description: Captured during Madonna’s spectacular Who’s That Girl World Tour, this rare concert documents one of the defining moments in her rise to global superstardom. Supporting both her multi-platinum True Blue album (1986) and the Who’s That Girl motion picture soundtrack (1987), the tour became Madonna’s first worldwide concert tour, spanning Asia, North America, and Europe while performing to well over a million fans.
A significant artistic and technical advancement over The Virgin Tour, the production featured elaborate staging, multiple costume changes, sophisticated lighting, larger-scale choreography, and groundbreaking multimedia elements that would become hallmarks of Madonna’s future live performances. Widely praised for its ambition and theatrical presentation, the tour helped establish Madonna as one of the premier live entertainers of the decade.
Originally presented in Japan as the “Mitsubishi Special,” this concert occupies a unique place in Madonna’s concert history. Produced in conjunction with Mitsubishi’s sponsorship of the Japanese leg of the tour, it remains one of the rarest officially released video documents from the Who’s That Girl World Tour, making the original LaserDisc highly sought after by collectors today.
PLEASE NOTE: This RARE Japanese concert should not be confused with Madonna’s officially released Ciao Italia: Live from Italy. Although both performances were filmed during the Who’s That Girl World Tour, they are entirely different concerts. This release captures Madonna performing in Japan, offering collectors and fans a unique performance with its own staging, audience atmosphere, and memorable moments unavailable on the Italian release.
Recorded live at Korakuen Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, on June 22, 1987, this vintage concert captures Madonna at the height of one of the most ambitious tours of her career before an enthusiastic Japanese audience.
For decades, this historic Japanese performance remained available only on the original LaserDisc. Now, painstakingly remastered from that rare source, it is finally available on Blu-ray for the first time—making it an essential addition to every Madonna fan’s and serious music collector’s library.
Blu-ray presents the complete concert in a seamless presentation while faithfully preserving the content of the original LaserDisc.
