Description
BACKGROUND:
Originally released exclusively in the United Kingdom in 2013, this rare official concert DVD was never issued in a separate North American edition and has received no subsequent commercial reissue or Blu-ray release. It has remained out of print for approximately 13 years, making surviving copies increasingly difficult to locate and highly desirable among collectors. This is the original all-regions, region-free DVD.
DESCRIPTION:
Filmed before a sold-out audience at London’s legendary O₂ Shepherd’s Bush Empire, this concert captures the triumphant final performance of Nik Kershaw’s 2012 tour supporting his eighth studio album, Ei8ht. The expansive two-part show offers considerably more than a conventional greatest-hits performance: the opening set combines new Ei8ht favourites with classics and rarely performed selections spanning Kershaw’s career, while the second set presents his platinum-selling 1984 debut album, Human Racing, live in its entirety.
Reviewing an earlier performance on the same tour, Liverpool Sound and Vision awarded the show four stars, praising its combination of “fun, passion” and memories and declaring that Kershaw’s “real talent and class” had never disappeared. Fronting an exceptional six-piece ensemble, Kershaw delivers more than two hours of sophisticated musicianship, memorable melodies and audience favourites, including “Wouldn’t It Be Good,” “The Riddle,” “Wide Boy,” “Human Racing” and “I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”
More than a concert recording, this final night stands as one of the pinnacles of Nik Kershaw’s live career, uniting the then-new Ei8ht era with the album that launched his international success. As the earliest—and still the only officially released complete concert film—to preserve Human Racing performed live in its entirety, it remains an irreplaceable document of two defining chapters in his career.
