Description

Released exclusively on the long since discontinued and deleted format of LaserDisc in 1996 as a exclusive Japan only import, the following has NEVER been released on DVD until NOW!

This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted Japanese LaserDisc from OVER TWENTY FOUR years ago.

Background: The concert was recorded at two times in two entirely different locations. the first gig was Live at The Nippon Budokanon in Tokyo, Japan on the 16th of  November 1996. The second gig was Live at the Phoenix Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon, Long Marston, England on 21st of July 1996.

This set of concerts was issued on the VHS format in Japan and possibly UK as well and was not released in the USA in ANY format. The only NTSC release of these classic concerts was a Japanese LaserDisc which this REMASTERED DVD comes from. Even now the LaserDisc of this rare concert is considered extremely rare and is only available as a used item. There have been some prior unofficial DVD releases of this concert that were sourced from the VHS. This LaserDisc to DVD remaster is at least TWICE the quality of any VHS master of this concert because of the LaserDisc quality. Still to this day, this vintage concert has NEVER been officially released here in America in ANY format, not on VHS, not on LaserDisc, not on DVD until NOW! So here it is for the first time ever on DVD for all collectors of the Punk movement and any general Sex Pistols devotee.

Another original offer from your team at MVR!

Description: The concert on side one was recorded Live at The Nippon Budokanon in Tokyo, Japan on the 16th of  November 1996. This is the third gig at Tokyo’s legendary Budokan. They has played there for the first time only two weeks earlier on the 4th and 5th of November. The interesting thing about the Japanese gigs is Steve seems to have added a delay effect on his guitar which is most noticeable on the lead break during ‘Did You No Wrong” I hate to say it but it winds up sounding like Billy Duffy of the Cult. This set of Japan gigs also seems to be the first recorded version of the “Anarchy” breakdown sing along.

The last two “bonus tracks”, which appear on side two, was recorded Live at the Phoenix Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon, Long Marston, England on 21 st of July 1996. It is interesting to note that this is the final UK gig of this tour until Crystal Palace in 2002. Featuring only these “bonus tracks”, side two has a running time of less than 9 minutes! The UK broadcasted this concert in various forms including MTV Europe but these these two songs “Anarchy In The UK” “Problems” appear here exclusively and is the only official release of that particular concert albeit only two songs apart from the broadcast in 1996.  Original artwork wrongly lists the running time as 70 minutes.

DVD Menu divides content as “Side 1” and “Side 2” to mimic the content style of the original LaserDisc
