This documentary explores the changes that took place on Top of the Pops in 1980, a year that both pop music and TOTP changed. A new generation of British pop arrived and the veteran TOTP orchestra was laid off, resulting in a Musician’s Union strike that took the program off the air for nine weeks. A new producer also introduced a series of celebrity guest co-presenters and doubled the studio audience. Featuring many interviews with stars, and the music of the time.

The show changed as the veteran TOTP orchestra was laid off, the studio audience doubled in size, new sets were built and a range of celebrity co-hosts from Elton John to Kevin Keegan to Russ Abbott arrived.
